Tee Seabrone Interview
Over the summer, I released my second thriller, Insomnia—because who needs sleep, right? But in true Tee Seabrone fashion, I’m back at it, working on the first draft of my upcoming novel PSYCH. This one follows a psychologist who gets tangled in a web of deceit when her attraction to the father of her young client spirals into something much darker. Falling for a killer? Now that’s love’s deadliest game! Stay tuned, because it’s going to be a wild ride, with a projected release in 2025.
Don’t limit yourself! Life is full of responsibilities—I’m a wife, a mom of three, a business owner, and an author—but if you want something, make time for it. Write your draft. Promote your work. Chase your dreams because there are no limits on what you can achieve.
I’ve got to give props to A.R. Torre. Her thrillers have this incredible tension that definitely inspired my own work. Plus, I always try to capture that same edge-of-your-seat feeling she masters so well.
At the heart of it, my stories explore real-life experiences with a dash of "what if?" My goal is to help readers escape reality, if only for a while. And maybe show them how far one decision can change the course of a life—like Liv’s in Suffocated.
Oh, absolutely. The biggest challenge was staying glued to my draft. Once I’m deep in the writing zone, I can lose all sense of time—I'm up all night, the sun rises, and suddenly I’m a coffee-fueled zombie. The key for me was setting deadlines and sticking to them.
My family. They’d been hearing me talk about my stories for years, and they just kept telling me, "Tee, start the book." So, I did. A big part of my process came after having my son and being on maternity leave. I had some extra free time—not too much, because, well, newborns. But he was there to keep me grounded, reminding me to take breaks (with plenty of diaper changes in between). Honestly, I bounced a lot of ideas off him while we were home together, and I took his coos and squeals as feedback. If he smiled, it was support; if he fussed, well, clearly I needed to rethink that plot twist!
Honestly, it’s getting to share the wild scenarios that run through my mind. Writing lets me pull people into my worlds, giving them a break from the daily grind. It’s like hosting a mental theme park—one with lots of suspense and psychological twists.
I knew at 8! I was already writing little stories, and before I knew it, I was directing kids to put on a Christmas play that my church asked me to write. Later in life, Suffocated followed me around until I finally started writing in 2023. After tons of research, I decided to self-publish because hey, if I can run businesses, I can publish books!
My debut novel, Suffocated, is a psychological thriller that one Amazon reviewer called “a gripping emotional rollercoaster.” It explores control, survival, and second chances. The story revolves around Liv, who stumbles upon her violent boyfriend in a perilous state, and the next decision she makes alters the course of her life forever. It’s got suspense, tough choices, and some serious edge-of-your-seat moments.
I’m an author with a passion for psychological thrillers. When I'm not working, I’m buried in thrillers and crime fiction—writing them, reading them, and sometimes watching them play out on the big screen. My all-time favorite book? It’s too hard to choose just one, but The Good Lie was a standout for me. I also thoroughly enjoyed The Lovely Bones. I still have a one-sided beef with Stanley Tucci for how creepily well he played his role in the movie version.
